Your glowiest skin ever

At VeryMakeupMad we often talk about "Glowing Skin".

After all, isn't an eviable "glow", the holy grail of beauty? But what do we actually mean? Are we referring to the glow of perfectly smooth, hydrated and healthy skin that shines from within? Or do we mean that sunkissed, summery glow that can be achieved with bronzers and tanning products?! Or perhaps it's the glow of a great blusher that gives your cheeks a flush of healthy colour and the "I've just been frolicking in a meadow" look. Oh, and don't forget the shimmering glow that comes with using fab, reflective highlighters, whether they're in powder, cream or liquid form. Phew, when it comes to glow... the list is endless!!

To be honest, we kind of mean all of the above. Although not necessarily all at once! But there are times when different "glow-giving products" are going to work best for you. And individually, they're the answer to one of the questions we are asked most regularly at VeryMakeupMad HQ... "how can I get my sluggish, tired, grey-looking skin to glow? ".

So we're on a "Glowing Crusade" and we're armed with the products you need for an enviable, healthy, youthful looking face. Here are our favourite recent finds - the skincare and makeup must-haves that will help you "get your glow on"!

The Prolonging-Your-Tan Glow:

When it comes to keeping a summer tan going (or just being able to face the day in the dead of winter when you're pale and sickly-looking!), it's hard to beat the Tan Luxe range. This is clever self-tanning and the brilliant, customisable The Face Illuminating Self Tan Drops, £35 is hard to beat (just add a couple of drops to your usual moisturiser, serum, oil or night cream, and say hello to a gorgeous, totally natural looking, golden glow). But we're also loving the Super Glow Hyaluronic Self Tan Serum, £35, which expertly combines skincare and tanning. It glides onto your face, plumping and hydrating (that's hyaluronic acid for you!) and leaves skin looking fresh and even-toned, and feeling silky smooth, primed and ready for moisturiser and/or makeup.

The Your-Skin-But-Better Glow:

We love products that straddle skincare and makeup. Lumene Instant Glow Beauty Serum, £27, is not quite a foundation, not quite a skincare product. It's a lightweight, tinted serum (it smells yummy too!) with ingredients such as Arctic spring water and cloudberry seed extract that are guaranteed to boost radiance. It's sheer, but there's definitely coverage that you can build, should you want... all you need afterwards is a swish of bronzer and blusher and you're good-to-go!

Another hot favourite is Juice Beauty Phyto Pigments Illuminating Primer, £24.12. This is a great organic brand, free from any 'nasties', and this primer leaves skin looking dewy and bright, and also blurs any imperfections and fine lines. It cleverly hydrates skin, but also controls oil production.

The All-Over Flawless-Skin Glow

When your skin's in need of a product to even it out, cover any redness and give an allover glow (not shimmery or dewy, just flawless), you can't beat Vichy Mineralblend Tri-Color Powder, £20. It's a great powder for winter skin, giving the face a peaches and cream glow and a fine veil of non-cakey perfection. Swirl your brush across all of the shades and wear over foundation or alone if you prefer.

The Fresh-Faced-Flushed-Cheeks Glow

It's no secret that M is the 'Blusher Queen'. Haven't worked together for a couple of years now, this obsession has definitely rubbed off on V, and she can't leave the house without a flush of blush. We're both currently loving MAC Mineralize Blush, £23.50, which is the prettiest, most sheer, pearlescent powder that makes skin glow in an instant and never fails to make people ask what we're wearing. V loves the dusky pink shade, Gentle, and M is mad about the golden coraly pink, Petal Power (not dissimilar to Nars Orgasm). But MAC, if you're reading this, please make the packaging easier to open!

The Lit-From-Within-Glow

When you're after a shimmering, radiant glow that only a highlighter can give, then we say go for a cream or liquid formulation - they're far less ageing than powders and also more subtle. We love the brand new Dior Backstage Face & Body Glow, £28, a golden, pearlescent cream which can be used alone all over the face for instant radiance, or mixed in with your foundation for a beautiful shimmering finish. You can also dot over your makeup on browbones and cheekbones for added 'va va voom!'.
