Lixirskin Essentials
When a beauty brand's tagline is "Less is more advanced skincare", you can be sure it's going to get the Verymakeupmad seal of approval! After all, we're about "less is more" beauty and simple, minimalist, no-fuss routines (that goes for makeup and skincare). So we think the brand in question - Lixirskin - is definitely worth knowing about. Plus, we're suckers for lovely packaging, and we are more than happy to display these soft, blush pink products in our bathrooms!
Lixirskin is very much a capsule skincare collection - just 14, high-performance products, developed and formulated by Colette Haydon, a Parisian Doctor of dermo-pharmacy (she previously created skincare products for brands such as REN & Jo Malone). Lixirskin is all about universal, multi-tasking products and prides itself on using clever, effective ingredients. It also believes you should switch around these ingredients, so that your skin doesn't get too used to any one product.
We've been using a selection of Lixirskin products for several weeks now and are excited to let you know how we're getting on and share our thoughts with you. If you've been following us here (or on our Instagram or Facebook accounts) for a while now, there'll be a couple of products that you're already familiar with...namely, the Vitamin C Paste and the Universal Oil. So let's start with those!
The Vitamin C Paste, is quite simply a brilliant brightening mask. We're big advocates of using vitamin C in our daily routines and think of it as something of an anti-ageing powerhouse. Given the nature of our job, we trial lots of different skincare, so have been using alternative vitamin C products recently. But it's been a joy to return to the Vitamin C Paste, and the results speak for themselves...within a matter of days, our complexions appeared clearer, brighter and somehow fresher. The only bone of contention is the slightly unusual, earthy scent - M likes it, but V is not a fan. Although, to be honest, you get used to it!
Onto the Universal Oil and this has been in our online Shop for some time, as we both adore the 'just-stepped-into-a-spa' scent and the multi purpose appeal of this brilliant product. You can add a few drops to your bath water, apply to damp skin in the shower, sweep onto dry skin, and also use on your hair and scay, as a pre treatment before washing. This oil does it all...and promises to make your skin soft, supple and hydrated from head to toe. We love it.
Every night we've been mixing a pump or two of the Night Switch Retinol 1% with the Universal Emulsion and applying all over our faces and necks. And it's fair to say, that's there's something very satisfying about being our own "skincare mixologists"! The advice from Lixirskin is to use the Night Switch for four weeks and then switch to another ingredient. The Retinol works to refine the skin's texture, reverse damage and soften lines and wrinkles. And the Universal Emulsion is a great multi-tasker and a really light, but ultra-hydrating moisturiser that's suitable for the entire face (eye contour and lips too) and the neck and decolletage. It can be used day and night and leaves skin soft, supple and dewy.
The final product we've been using is the Good Skin Shaker Super Dew - a great, bi-phase formula (give it a good shake to mix together) that you can use under or over makeup. Think of it as a 'waker upper'... a product that just makes your skin look youthful, glowy and smooth. It gives a luminous, pearlescent glow, and works to de-puff, lift and tighten and also helps to fill in lines and wrinkles. It's something of a miracle worker!
