Autumn /Winter 2021 is all about Rosy Cheeks for us…
What does autumn make you think of…? We’re thinking of soft cashmere scarves, mulled wine, fireworks and the onset of the party season. But we wouldn’t be Verymakeupmad if we didn’t think of beauty before any of the above. And we believe this season calls for rosy cheeks!
You know the kind… The ones that are created by nature, with a brisk autumn walk on a crisp, yet bright and sunny day. We love a moment or two of nostalgia, so kicking leaves as a kid immediately springs to mind. And now as parents, we’re having just as much fun doing the same with our own kids.
The look we’re talking about is the totally natural kind - a pink glow that comes from within, as opposed to one that sits on your cheeks after being applied with a blusher brush. So it’s cream blushers all the way for us, to give the most effortless and perfect rosy flush. Powder blushes are fab, and certainly have their place, but just not on our faces this season! We’re all about the lit from within makeup look and that means less is more.
So as far as we’re concerned, youthfulness comes in the guise of a cream or liquid blush, and here are our current favourites:
Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks stick in Petal - a firm favourite with our clients, this stick is super easy to use and because it's so sheer and creamy, it's pretty foolproof. This shade seems to suit one and all!
Natasha Denona Bloom Face Glow Palette - highly pigmented and gorgeously glowy, it's hard not to fall for the creams and powders in this palette. We love using on cheeks, eyes and lips.
Armani A Blush in shade 50 - a delicate pink liquid blush that gives the most natural hint of colour and never fails to make you look that bit healthier. It's a winner!
Stila Convertible Color - a cult makeup product with a legion of fans, this slightly tacky cream is so pretty on cheeks and lips and comes in some really beautiful shades. We love Petunia.
Glossier cloud paint - if you haven't got one of these tubes of 'light as air' cream blush, then grab one for your daughter. Super cool, very pretty and it gives just the faintest hint of a soft pink cheek.
Shiseido Whipped Powder Blush - we adore this amazingly 'moussey' cream blush that transforms to a soft, matte powder on application. It gives the most gorgeous, radiant finish.
Rodial Liquid Blush in Frosted Pink - an irresistible, shimmering, bubblegum pink shade, this cream promises to give you the dewiest cheeks and an enviable glow. We love to use this on our eyelids too.
Dior Rosy Glow - OK, we know it's not a cream, but we couldn't do a blog all about rosy cheeks without mentioning this old gem that seems to have had a recent Tiktok resurgence! The powder cleverly reacts and adapts to your skin's moisture levels, which means that everyone's 'rosy glow' is customised!
