How To Get Radiant Dewy Skin

It's no secret that we're fans of dewy, radiant skin, softly flushed cheeks, and subtly shimmering eyes, with no harsh or heavy eyeliner. Oh, and we do have a thing for lipglosses! And we create bespoke skincare and makeup routines to optimise youthful radiance, so take advantage of our current promo and book before the end of April.

And with that in mind, here’s our latest blog offering, where we share what we’ve been testing and trialling of late. There have been all manner of fab makeup launches recently, so true to form we bring you our favourites. The products that we trust and rely on, recommend to our clients in consultations, and perhaps most importantly, frequently use ourselves. We’re fans of beauty products that work, so that’s what you’ll get with us!!

So here's the lowdown of our Spring makeup must-haves, all guaranteed to make you look and feel your beautiful best.

1. Complexion

Just when you thought the whole world had turned its back on foundation (sales plummeted during lockdown, and it was all about skincare instead), lots of brands have launched new ones. And all of these new foundations are loaded with skincare ingredients to really benefit skin, especially with long-term use. They're makeup/skincare hybrids. Or 'Skindations' if you will. From Nars Light Reflecting Foundation with its ingredients to improve the clarity of skin and defend against pollution, to Charlotte Tilbury's Beautiful Skin Foundation with hyaluronic acid to hydrate and ingredients to brighten, it would seem that all of the cosmetics companies are at it!

Our top pick though, is Chanel No.1 Foundation -part of the new No1 anti-ageing skincare and makeup line within Chanel Beauty. This foundation is a dream. It's hydrating and revitalising with red camellia extract which promises to target skin ageing, and which really helps to improve skin tone and texture with cumulative use. It glides on and provides a beautifully light, yet buildable coverage and a radiant, glowy finish. Plus it smells divine!

We're also quite taken with the Jones Road Beauty Face Pencil. Jones Road is the new, pared back makeup range from legendary makeup artist, Bobbi Brown (she parted ways with her namesake brand around 5 years ago). The Face Pencil comes in 25 shades and is so easy to use and multi-functional too. It can be swiped on the face and used as a concealer to cover redness, discoloration, dark circles etc. (we love to use it around the nose and on the chin). But it can also be blended out with moisturiser to create all-over coverage. For fans of the 'no makeup makeup' look, this is for you!

2. Cheeks

It's cream blush all the way for us these days. Especially as we head into spring/summer. It creates such a natural, glowy flush of colour...as though you've just been on a brisk walk and you're lit from within. It's a much more natural looking way to flush, than the effect you get with a powder blush. We're currently loving Bobbi Brown Crushed Creamy Colour for Cheeks and Lips, which comes in a cute little tube (like Glossier Cloud Paint, but far more pigmented). Dab onto the apples of your cheeks and use fingers or a brush to blend along the cheekbone. Take note...a little goes a long way!

A stick blush is also a really quick and easy way to apply. Plus most are dual purpose and designed to be dabbed onto lips too. From Westman Atelier's sheer and glowy Baby Cheeks Blush Stick, to Nudestix dewy Nudies Bloom Blush Stick, there are lots of them on the market. We're rather smitten with Stila Complete Harmony Lip and Cheek Stick - shade Peony is a beautiful option and far more wearable than it might appear on first sight!

You'll know by now that we're massive fans of Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight. Just a quick swipe of this creamy, pearlised highlighter on your 'high points' (cheekbones & browbones) gives a lovely, dewy sheen. And when you add a little to your cupid's bow, it gives a lovely shape to your lips and the illusion of a more defined lipline. YSL Highlighter Stick does the same job, and is a slightly more 'luxury' option.

3. Eyes

Onto eyes and we think that everyone should have a versatile little eyeshadow palette to hand this season...with some soft, shimmery shades to wash over eyelids. V's palette of choice is Natasha Denona Mini Retro Eyeshadow Palette which is also a client favourite and seems to suit most eye colours and skin tones. And M has a thing for the Fenty Beauty Eyeshadow Palette in Cool Neutrals with its beautiful muted tones and the 'pop' of shimmering lilac. It's a winner! Other great palettes to check out this season are Bobbi Brown Cobblestone Lane with its soft peachy tones, and Makeup Revolution Forever Flawless palette in Eternal, which is a fab budget buy.

4. Lips

Having worn face masks for the best part of 2 years, it feels so good to be liberating our lips! There are lots of gorgeous, sheer balm lipsticks available right now, all designed to treat and nourish the lips, and make them look gorgeous too. We both love the Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm - admittedly, it's pretty pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for! Not only is it a gorgeous, silky balm that just glides onto lips, but when you feel the sheer weight of it...wow! We reckon you can ditch the pepper spray, and just use this as a weapon, should you ever need to. We hope not, of course!! But if you whacked someone with this, we don't fancy their chances...!!

We're also lipgloss girls. And always have been! And when it comes to lipgloss, shimmer and sparkle are non-negotiable. Without a bit of sparkle, gloss tends to disappear from the lips in no time at all, and leave behind nothing but bitter disappointment! But with a sparkly gloss, once the colour has worn off a little, you're still left with the 'twinkle' on the lips, and the illusion that you've only just applied it. Check out Patrick Ta's totally gorgeous and dazzling Major Glow Lip Shine glosses...we're hooked.

So those are our top picks for this season. As ever, please get in touch for personal product recommendations...we love hearing from you and receiving your comments and questions!

Love, radiance and a sprinkling of shimmer,
